Rules for 2009

1. Only handspun and constructed items are eligible for competition.(except for Division D)

2. All items entered must have been spun, knit, woven, crocketed or otherwise constructed or dyed by exhibitor

3. The judge has the power to reclassify entries to appropriate class prior to judging.

4. No more than two items can be entered in each class by a single entrant.

5. Entries are due July 14. Late entries will not be accepted.

6. All shipping to and from Lambtown, USA is the financial responsibility of the exhibitor. Lambtown, USA will assist with return shipping when instructions are on the entry. If you can not hand deliver entries on the day of the judging, ship entries to S&G Competition, c/o Dana Foss, 350 West A St., Dixon, CA 95620. Please indicate your plans for shipping or pick-up on your entry form. Exhibitors wishing to sell entries MUST state price on entry form and entry tag. Exhibitor and buyer are responsible for all negotiations. Entires that are not sold and are not claimed by 5 p.m. July 30 or are entered with no return instructions will become property of Lambtown, USA.

INFORMATION CARDS: Necessary for all entries in all divisions

An information card must be securely attached to your entry. The information card should have your name and address on one side and any pertinent information regarding the entry on the other side. For the skein competition, breed of wool or type of fiber and spinning technique used in helpful. For the dyeing competition, provide the name of the dyestuff as well as the recipe/method used for natural dyeing. For chemical dyes, provide the brand of dye and the recipe/method used for dyeing. For all competitions, more than one card is acceptable if needed.

Skein Competition

Skeins are divided into11 divisions, with 4 categories in each division. All skeins are to be 40 yards or have a 2 oz. Minimum weight. They must also be tied in at least 3 places. Securely attach a 3 x 5 information card; any entry without an information card securely attached will be disqualified.

Entries can be dyed; however they will be judged only on their handspun qualities. All yarn sizes (wpi) will be judged together. Qualities such as evenness of dye, stability of dye on yarn, etc., will be taken into account as well as the dye process used.

Garment/Textile Competition

Garments may be hand knitted, woven, crocheted, tatted, felted, etc. Entries will be judged on the workmanship and suitability of yarn used for the item. A 3 x 5 information card must be attached to your entry. The information card is to have your name and address on one side and any information pertaining to the entry such as specific fiber content, pattern, construction technique, etc., on the other side of the card. All items must be made from handspun wool if yarn is used. Any entry without a securely attached information card will be disqualified. More than one card is acceptable if needed.
